Dear ABC Student Group Leaders,

Welcome back! I hope that your return to campus has been enjoyable and smooth. I certainly am excited for the Spring, 2024 semester!

This message contains many announcements which were a part of my Jan. 2nd email. Most pressing is the Jan. 22nd deadline to complete Barnard space training in case your student group wishes to book space at Barnard College.

ABC Town hall is scheduled for January 31st, 2024 at 8:00 p.m. EDT in Lerner Satow. Attendance by one e-board member is required. Additionally, we are requiring that groups post a news article in LionLink related to their Fall, 2023 programming. This is an attempt to replicate our incredible FY22-23 show-case in Google Slides, which emphasized the strength and quality of our student group programming.
See you on the 31st!
Sincerely,

Theodore M. Nelson
ABC President

ABC Town Hall
ABC Town Hall will take place January 31st at 8:00 p.m. EDT in Lerner Satow (5th floor Lerner Hall). All student organizations are required to send at least one e-board member, and may optionally send additional leadership. We understand that these email updates are lengthy; town hall provides us an opportunity to share this information in a digestible format. Additionally, we will be available to answer any questions you may have.

In particular, town hall will focus on LionLink usage, representative elections, revenue generation strategies, board transitions, and financial planning for FY24-25. In advance of town hall (or during it), we are requiring that all groups post a news article to the public dashboard. Please reference this sub-two minute video for how to access the news dashboard. Please include one image from your Fall, 2023 programming, as well as a minimum 50 word update. Please reach out to your student group advisor if you encounter issues accessing LionLink.

See you January 31st at 8:00 p.m. EDT in Lerner Satow!

SEAs Social Media Ambassadors Program - reach out to promote your events!

Good afternoon!

I'm Mercedes Moore, a communications media assistant for Columbia's School of Engineering and Applied Sciences. I currently work under Michele Hoos and Beatrice Mhando and help run the SEAS Social Media Ambassadors program.

For our recruitment efforts this year, we are looking to reach out to the social media chairs of Columbia organizations/clubs to 1) share recruitment information and 2) promote on-campus events hosted by these clubs.

Thanks so much in advance and I look forward to hearing from you!

Mercedes Moore

Columbia Bedework

Are you interested in planning events with the official Columbia events calendar? Email your advisor to set up a Columbia Bedework calendar (https://events.columbia.edu/admin/).

Bedework allows for ticketing, in the same manner as EventBrite. However, there are two primary advantages: 1.) all ticket sales are directly collected within your group’s chartstring as revenue and 2.) ticket sales are subject to a 3% transaction fee, as opposed to 6% through EventBrite.

Please reach out to your USL advisor to set this up for your group.

E-Board Changes

If your leadership changes during the semester, please make sure to fill out ABC’s e-board update form to ensure a continuity in directly communications: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSeMLXlCNptwy8q4OdU6tnGmQ1nnKtQvHHZmwbav-d0dBJqDXg/viewform

New leaders can receive immediate access to the newsletter by subscribing to the following listserv: https://listserv.cuit.columbia.edu/scripts/wa.exe?SUBED1=ABC_LEADERS

ABC Co-Sponsorships

We continue to maintain a co-sponsorship pool for the FY23-24 school year: https://forms.gle/VMhqEyYFEfKCHAmSA

Your ABC representatives have the opportunity to present co-sponsorship requests during our weekly Wednesday meetings. Co-Sponsorships will not be reviewed during our spring town hall meeting (date to be announced).

A notable difference from the previous year is a change in our co-sponsorship reimbursement process. ABC will provide award letters, which will be reimbursed directly to student groups once documentation and receipts for the program are received by both your ABC representative and ABC e-board ([email protected]), according to the exact amount within the receipts and relevant ABC spending guidelines. Please feel free to reach out with any questions.
