Dear ABC Student Group Leaders,
We have taken recent steps to further support student group event space booking at Barnard and Columbia. I write to share two announcements in this regard.
Facilities and Securities Funds
The four undergraduate student councils - Columbia College Student Council, Engineering Student Council, General Studies Student Council, and the Barnard Student Government Association - have come together to provide an additional $70,000 worth of funding from their initial F@CU allocation, for a total of $170,000, to the Facilities and Securities Funds, in order to support student group programming for FY23-24.
For those unaware, these funds cover a wide range of expenses related to their expressed purpose. They are automatically charged for events less than $600 ; larger expenses must be approved by the Vice-Presidents of Finance for the individual councils. You can learn more about what these funds specifically cover on the following webpage: https://www.cc-seas.columbia.edu/studentlife/groupres/funding/facilities_security
I thank the undergraduate student councils for their receptiveness to our concerns and needs.
Reserving Space at Barnard [coloring and language from Barnard Undergraduate Student Life]:
The completion of Barnard Events Management System Training is required for student groups recognized at Columbia to have the ability and opportunity to request space at Barnard. Please note, space requests for Columbia recognized groups will be reviewed upon the completion of your Barnard EMS Training through November 8th as Barnard College is currently evaluating space use as the College is currently managing multiple construction projects. Space requests for dates after November 8th will be considered on a case by case basis and in the order they are received. Any updates to space availability and dates that groups can request space will be shared out when they are made available.
To RSVP to participate in this training, please complete this form by Friday, Sept. 29th.
Once you complete the RSVP form, you will be emailed a link to a pre-recorded training video and corresponding quiz. At least four members of your student group must complete the training in its entirety and pass the quiz tied to the training module. Each individual completing this requirement must complete the RSVP form to get access to the training and quiz.
*SEE will review and share the training and quiz every Monday and Wednesday starting Monday, Sept. 25th for individuals that RSVP.
If you have any questions, please contact [email protected].
Sincerely,
Theodore M. Nelson
ABC President
