Dear ABC Student Group Leaders,

The newly elected 2024-2025 ABC Board is below.

Allocation Packet Release
We are announcing the release of the 2024-2025 Allocation Packet. This packet serves as a source of information for us to better understand your group's 2024-2025 financial needs, based on your programming from this year. It also helps ABC expedite the review of your group's co-sponsorship applications. The deadline for submitting the allocation packet is April 30 at 11:59PM ET. Late submissions will not be accepted.
This year, the submission process of the allocation packet will be different, and done through LionLink. Please go to your organization’s finance page > budget > create request > create budget request > click allocation packet. A meeting with your ABC representative is highly encouraged to understand this new process/clarify any questions. Please talk to your advisor for any issues around LionLink finance access.
Co-Sponsorship Pool Closure
As of our last meeting (3/27/2024), we have given out all of the money in our 23-24 co-sponsorship pool. We are very grateful for the Vice Presidents of Finance of the Student Councils, who provided $20,000 of additional funding for our pool. An official report of the co-sponsorships will be released in the upcoming weeks.
Your ABC representative is here to advise you on how to fund any remaining events planned for this Spring semester. Please do not hesitate to reach out for help. Our website has information on other co-sponsorships/grant opportunities, as well as group fundraising.
In addition, please consider applying for the Undergraduate Community Initiative - Community Engagement Mini-Grant for further support. Up to $1500 can be received to fund either existing or new events on campus, open to all CUID holders. These funds are considered additional student group revenue! To be eligible for the Spring 2024 semester, your event must take place on or before April 29, 2024.
Furthermore, the University Senate has opened the Columbia Alumni Association Co-Sponsorship Fund, available to fund events for any recognized student organization, provided they involve collaboration across multiple schools. You should have received an email regarding this announcement, and the application can be found here.
New Group Recognition
This year, the New Group Recognition (NGR) application was done through a new centralized webform. The governing boards are currently in the process of reviewing the 49 applications received. The next few steps of this process are as follows:
NGR Governing Board review: Monday, March 25th - Sunday, April 21st
Governing Boards share NGR recommendations: Monday, April 22nd
USL reviews Governing Board recommendations: by Friday, April 26th
Final NGR decisions: Friday, May 3rd
Summer Storage
We understand that some student groups face challenges storing items used for events throughout the semester that will be reused in following years. ABC, along with USL and the governing boards, want to better gauge the specific storage needs. Your ABC representative will be asking you if your group will benefit from summer storage, and approximately how many medium-sized boxes your group would need to store. Please communicate this information directly to your ABC representative by Thursday, April 4 at 11:59pm.
E-Board for the Fall 2024 Semester
As mentioned above, your ABC representative will ask you for your group’s Fall 2024 executive board members. Please communicate this information directly to your ABC representative by Thursday, April 4 at 11:59pm. This is very important to ensure communication between your student group and ABC. If elections have not happened yet, please email your ABC representative as soon as the new e-board is elected.
We are very excited to work with all of you for the rest of the Spring semester and the following 2024-2025 fiscal year. Please do not hesitate to reach out to your representative about any questions you may have!
All the best,
Julian Infante
